Jessica's artistic evolution has not gone unnoticed, with her early works catching the attention of BBC Introducing and earning her a spot on the airwaves of BBC Radio Ulster. Her ability to weave narratives with her music has garnered widespread acclaim, capturing the hearts of fans and critics alike. In 2022, Jessica James reached a significant milestone with the release of her self-produced single, "Farewell." This captivating piece not only showcased her musical prowess but also earned her a coveted spot on the longlist for the Single of the Year at the Northern Ireland Music Prize.

 

Jessica James stands as a testament to the power of individuality with her maximalist fashion sense and a interest in matters of feminism and working class issues. Her songs hail as a testament to being a young woman that sometimes doesn’t to want to you in it. In live performance she repeatedly captures attention and the hearts of audiences as she continues to evolve within the ever-changing landscape of indie folk music and the Brighton music scene. 

Originally from Northern Ireland, the now Brighton based artist, Jessica James offers a unique take on the indie folk genre, with a distinctive style that resonates with the struggles of young adulthood.  She is inspired by artists like Mitski, Phoebe Bridgers and the iconic Kate Bush and her sound has been compared to that of Dodie Orla Gartland. This eclectic mix of influences is the foundation upon which Jessica has built her own unique sound.  With a blend of unusual rhythms and harmonies to tell heartfelt personable stories.
